Auburn, called The Loveliest Village On The Plains, is Alabama's largest eastern city. It is also the home of Auburn University, Alabama's largest university. Auburn's historical district includes the Auburn University campus with Revivalist buildings that date between the 1850s and 1900s. The Historical District centers around Samford Park and includes Samford Hall - the university's administration building and University Chapel. John Heisman for whom the Heisman Trophy is named coached at Auburn University. The Auburn Tigers taker the field at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
