Disney's Fort Wilderness is a 700+ acre American Frontier themed accommodation and activity area. The frontier theme is portrayed by buildings with log facades. One of Walt Disney World's original areas, Fort Wilderness opened in November 1971 and is located near the Magic Kingdom.

Activities at Fort Wilderness include a barbeque hoedown, outdoor theater, Disney movie screenings, carriage rides, horseback riding, pony rides for children, a fishing expedition, boating, biking, tennis, swimming, volleyball, horseshoes, shuffle board and archery. Guests can also watch a blacksmith put horseshoes on horses that pull the trolley on Main Street USA. Services available in the Fort Wilderness area include selling basic groceries and camping supplies as well as video rentals. Two restaurants are located in the area. Complimentary transportation for Fort Wilderness guests is provided to all locations througout Walt Disney Resort, including theme parks and water parks, and to Orlando International airport.

Accommodations at Fort Wilderness are provided using a lodge, cabins, villas and campsites. Some Fort Wilderness accommodations offer discount rates and are listed on Walt Disney World Resort and Hotel discounts. The list includes the discounted rate.

The Lodge

Disney's Wilderness Lodge recreates the feel of America's National Park lodges through totem poles, pine trees, and rock formations. Hotel attractions include a -story Fire Rock Geyser, Bay Lake Beach. Services include ferry or bus service to Walt Disney WorldŽ Resort areas as well as a shuttle to Orlando International Airport. The Cabins

Fort Wilderness features 409 500 square feet cabins. Each cabin contain a living area, fully equipped kitchen, one bedroom, a full bathroom, a private patio, a charcoal grill and a picnic table. Curbside parking is also provided. More info...

The Villas

The Villas At Disney's Wilderness Lodge celebrate the grand parks of the northwest. Each villa includes a living area, kitchen, as well as all the comforts of home. guests arriving after 5/4/05 are eligible for Disney's Magical Express Service. The Campsites

There are four types of campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness: 1) tent/pop up 2) full hook-up 3) preferred hook-up 4) premium campsites. Of the four types, only the text/pop up does not have sewer hook-ups. Each campsite can accommodate up to 10 persons and includes water, electrical and cable tv hook-ups, a charcoal grill and a picnic table. High speed Internet is available for an additional cost. Comfort Stations prvide private toilets and showers, telephones and ice machines. Pet friendly campsites are available.
