About Albany
Located on the bank of the Flint River in Southwest Georgia, Albany is the hub of Southwest Georgia and the home the Albany State University Golden Rams. Albany is the heart of Plantation Trace, the southern section of Georgia's Southern Rivers region. Albany is the pecan capital of the world, but is more widely known for its magnificent quail hunting. Famous native sons and daughters of Albany include Deion Branch, Ray Charles, Alice Coachman, Paula Deen, Jim Fowler, Ray Knight, JoMarie Payton, and Ray Stephens.
