Columbus Georgia, home of Fort Benning, is located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River which runs along the state line between Georgia and Alabama. The Chattahoochee separates Columbus from Phenix City Alabama.

Columbus Metropolitan Airport (CSG) provides air travel for West Georgia and East Alabama. This includes Columbus as well as Auburn, Opelika and Phenix City Alabama.
