On the campus of Ole Miss are University Museums containing Greek and Roman antiquities, Southern Folk Art, Theora Hamblett paintings as well as 18th and 19th century scientific apparatus.

From 1930 to 1962, Oxford was the home of William Faulkner, Nobel Prize-winning author. Faulkner immortalized Oxford in hi s writings. His home, Roman Oak, is a tourist attraction featuring a handwritten outline of his novel, A Fable, on the wall of his study. Other cultural attractions include Historic Downtown Square, Southside Gallery featuring art from the South and the Caribbean as well as St. Peter's Episcopal Church, the oldest religious structure in Oxford.

African-American Heritage Tour & Music Heritage Tour

Oxford, located in the center of Mississippi's Hills Region, is a recommended stop on two Mississippi tours: African-American Heritage Tour and Music Heritage Tour. Ole Miss is the alma mater of James Meredith, the first African-American to attend the University of Mississippi. The Center for the Study of Southern Culture is a Blues music archive center that is also a research center for Southern music, folklore and literature.
